Awake Counselling

About ME

My background and why I do this

I bring to my counselling work a deep respect for people’s stories, shaped by lived experience, long-standing clinical practice, and a belief that healing happens in relationship. My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate and collaborative, supporting people to make sense of what they carry and reconnect with themselves in safer, more grounded ways.

I work with adults navigating trauma, complex life experiences, identity, relationships, grief, life transitions, and the impact of past or ongoing stress. My practice is grounded in EMDR therapy, parts-based approaches and nervous system regulation, alongside a strong social and relational lens. I am especially mindful of how history, culture, systems and belonging shape our inner worlds.

Therapy with me is not about fixing you. It is about building safety, strengthening inner resources and working toward meaningful change at a pace that feels respectful and sustainable. Whether you are seeking relief from distress, deeper self-understanding, or support during a period of transition, we work together with care, curiosity and steadiness.

I offer counselling via secure telehealth (video and telephone), supporting adults across Australia and internationally where appropriate.

What I’m like as a therapist

As a therapist, I bring steadiness, patience and a grounded presence to my work. My journey – from arriving in Australia as a young refugee to working across diverse settings supporting both childhood and adult trauma – has shaped a deep respect for people’s resilience and complexity. I am not easily unsettled. I remain present, attentive and steady, even when the work feels difficult.

In our sessions, you can expect a calm and considered space where your experiences are met with care rather than urgency. We move at a pace that feels safe and manageable, building understanding and capacity over time. My role is to support you with consistency and clarity as we navigate the complexities of your story together.

How I work

My approach to therapy is about creating a safe, grounded, and open space as the first paramount step. I believe in an environment where we stand as equals, fostering a space that encourages growth, learning, and the constructive challenge of ideas and thoughts.

There is an array of evidence-based modalities that I use in my practice such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Trauma-Informed Counselling, Relational Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and strength-based approach just to name some.

You’ve sought therapy for a reason, and I am here to hold a safe space for you – to support your journey of growth, learning, and finding strength when needed.

This collaborative atmosphere defines my approach, reflecting my connection and commitment to working together with you.
